Director Lee Bonner states "We had written several scripts that we liked but couldn’t find the money to produce them. So we decided to write something we could produce for a small budget and by doing so came up with something totally unique."

The idea emerged of a crime captured on multiple video cameras that could be acted out in one take like a stage play. The primary actors would be two detectives who were never seen on camera. They would solve the crime by watching these tapes and the viewer would become their eyes, thus becoming a part of the film themselves. The off camera detectives also gave the audience more room than usual to exercise their imagination and a first hand chance of beating the detectives at solving the crime, something mystery fans don’t get enough chances to do."

We tried to get performances from the on camera actors that were not polished or stylized in any way. We placed the cameras to give the feeling they were hidden and let the actors move about within the frame without traditional composition, often being completely out of frame to be seen later from another camera. We kept the lighting as natural as possible using mostly available light. It was fun because here was an opportunity to ignore a set of arbitrary rules of film making and do whatever was right for the concept."
